We reach the summit by cable car to marvel at the sweeping views of Hakone National Park. Due to snow, not much visibility. There is a shrine here as well. The weather cleared just enough to see the shrine. And, if the weather was clear, we should have been able to Mt. Fuji and Lake Ashi. We did end up taking a boat cruise on Lake Ashi afterwards.Travelled with my parents as part of a tour.
Nice park where you can get views of mountains and rivers. We rode the cable cars to try to get a glimpse of Mount Fuji but due to the weather we couldn't but still enjoyed it.
We went on a cruise ship excursion to the 2nd observation station in this UNESCO World Heritage Site. We had great views of Mt. Fuji when we left Shimizu but unfortunately when we stopped at the observation station the summit was covered by cloud. The drive through the forest was very pleasant though.
Mount Fuji was absolutely beautiful with its perfect cone. I travelled to Kyoto from Tokyo via Bullet Train. Sheer exhilaration at its best with Lexus class reliability. Hakone park and Lake Ashi were stunning as were the pirate ships that I sailed on.
Fujisan is worth seeing but can only be climbed in July August and early September. Iti is a long way from Tokyo and there is often a traffic jam on the 2 lane each way highway. Travel time from Tokyo for us was over 2 hours. Then return by Shinkansen but that we another 2 1/2 hours.
It takes about 6 hours to ascend and descend
The 10h tour began with a short city tour and then to Hakone areas by a coach with a well-spoken English-speaking guide. We got to see a clear view of Mt Fuji at the 5th station. We also came to know that the oldest man to climb Mt Fuji was a 105-yr-old Japanese man. Our next stop was cable ride up Mt Komogatake and finally a refreshing cruise on Lake Ashi after a sumptous lunch at hotel Regina.
