Pacific Rim National Park Reserve consists of three regions: the Long Beach Unit, the Broken Group Islands, and the West Coast Trail.
The Long Beach Unit is the most popular area of the park reserve, known for its stunning beaches and surf. Visitors can enjoy activities such as surfing, beachcombing, hiking, and camping. The Broken Group Islands are a collection of over 100 islands and islets located in Barkley Sound. Visitors can explore the islands by kayak or boat and enjoy fishing, wildlife viewing, and camping. The West Coast Trail is a challenging 75-kilometer46-mile hiking trail that runs along the coast from Bamfield to Port Renfrew. The trail offers stunning views of the coast and is known for its rugged terrain and difficult conditions.
The park reserve is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including black bears, cougars, wolves, bald eagles, and gray whales. It also contains a unique ecosystem of temperate rainforest, rocky coastline, and intertidal zones. The park reserve is managed by Parks Canada, and visitors are encouraged to practice Leave No Trace principles to help protect the natural environment.

Probably one of the most beautiful places in Canada. A friend called it spiritual, it definitely is awe inspiring. During a stormy day with high winds, the power of the ocean is memorizing. The day after the storm with the sun breaking through the clouds is even more so. Do all the beach walks. The two short rainforest trails are very beautiful. So glad we experienced this national park.
We really enjoyed our time in this park and really wished we’d had more. The views fro Radar hill are beautiful, the beach at the bottom of the Combers bay trail is wonderful vast and empty, the rainforest trail shows tall lush forest from well constructed boardwalks and the bog trail shows the effect of marshy ground on stunting vegetation. You could explore a lot by bike also as bike trail is parallel to road.
Lots of beautiful trails and beaches in this park. Can spend days doing all the hikes and visiting the beaches. Beautiful views! Some National Park special ranger activities as well. Park pass is needed.
Lovely wander around the laid out walkways dotted with information boards. You need to buy a "park pass" from the car park which costs $21 for 2 for a day. This lets you visit all the beaches as well
Recently came to this National Park for three days.. This park has lots to offer! There was guided tours all week (see attached schedule), lots of surfing places, as well as rental shops in Tofino.If you are in the area, do visit, you won’t regret it.
We did the Lighthouse loop on the Wild Pacific trail and it was amazing. Incredible views. The teens enjoyed exploring the tidal pools. We went with a senior with some walking limitations and they don’t have too many problems. Beautiful, easy walk.
So much to love here....several outstanding beaches for surfing, swimming, walking hanging, plus a great selection of hiking trails. Some thru forests, to beaches, to viewpoints, for long bike rides, etc. DO get a day pass, we saw lots of tickets being written.
